Nite in the Life
Nite in the Life (NIL) is Student Life’s premier event of the year recognizing student leaders, student groups, and everyone in the ACC community who support the Student Life mission throughout the year.
Campus Governance enables collaboration between students and ACC administration through Student Government Association and shared governance committees.
Student Government Association (SGA) functions as a crucial link between students and ACC administration. SGA works to improve the quality and value of the educational experience at ACC by acting as an advocate for student concerns.

Student Activity Fee Advisory Committee
The Student Activity Fee Advisory Committee (SAFAC) provides a consultation process and administrative review of revenue and expenditures in addition to making recommendations regarding Student Life budget. At ACC, each student taking credit courses is required to pay a Student Activity Fee. The purpose of the fee is to provide financial support for co-curricular events and programs at ACC that enhance the cultural, intellectual and social lives of students.
Clubs and Organizations helps students make connections on cultural or academic levels. Involvement in Clubs and Organizations also allows students to gain field experience when they work with a group that connects with their degree plan.
If there isn’t a club or organization that you like, you can start your own by stopping by any SL office. Starting a new club only requires three people and must include a president, secretary, and a treasurer. In addition, a faculty or staff advisor must be involved.
Diversity promotes awareness and appreciation of self and others through various programming. In addition to clubs and campus programming, the following help to address the needs of a diverse campus.

Campus community members write down opinions on select topics and can be found throughout the semester in common areas.

An important part of providing events and services that enhance student life, Focus Groups are conducted every semester to get student feedback.
Constituency Senators
SGA provides representation for all students at ACC. A few groups have specific senators to hear and address student issues for Students with Disabilities along with Distance Learning, International, Non-Traditional, Veteran and Minority Students.
First Year Experience shows students how to successfully navigate campus resources and encourages participation in college life. First Year Experience (FYE) is all about making purposeful connections and places special emphasis on each student’s first year at Austin Community College.
The Orientation Program
The Orientation Program (TOP) is required for all new ACC students who are first time in college students with zero credit hours. In this fun, three-hour session, students learn about ACC resources and meet other new students.

Welcome Week
Student Life and ACC departments welcome students the first week of each fall and spring semester by answering questions, giving directions, and anything else to ensure that students get through their first week of school.
VIP Events
The Virtual to In Person (VIP) events are scheduled throughout the semester as a fun way for new students to meet, mingle, and get to know other first-year students in a stress-free environment.

Online communication tools provide new students with a way to ask questions, find support and build community.

Leadership Development provides training and development for student leaders through speaker series, workshops, conferences, and other events. In addition, the Student Life team develops student leaders, through paid and unpaid positions, when they participate in various programs.

There are many opportunities for students to work with the Student Life communications department at ACC. Student Media has paid and non-paid positions available for students interested in photography, Web and print design, marketing, and writing.
